 ACOUSTICAL SOCIETY FOUNDATION GENERAL SECRETARY
The Acoustical Society Foundation is conducting a search for a General Secretary, with duties to begin in 2006.
The Acoustical Society Foundation was established in December 1996 with the mission to plan and carry out comprehensive fund-raising activities and campaigns for the benefit of the Acoustical Society of America so that the Society can meet the challenges of furthering its position as a worldwide profes- sional organization and enhance acoustical research and applications well into the 21st century.
The General Secretary administers all aspects of fund raising for the Foundation, including contacts with donors, fund-raising events, public relations, maintenance of the web site, acknowledgements of donations, record keeping, preparation for audit, and filing required tax documents. The General Secretary serves as the executive secretary for the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, scheduling and preparing for meetings of the Board, and recording and distributing minutes. The General Secretary reports directly to the Chair of that Board.
Remuneration for the position is based on time spent, estimated to be one day per week, and on incen- tives as negotiated.
Persons who wish to apply for the position of General Secretary should send a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae, prior to 20 May 2006, to the chair of the Search Committee: Dr. William M. Hartmann, 749 Beech Street, East Lansing, MI 48823; hartmann@pa.msu.edu
It is hoped to conduct interviews of candidates during the regular meeting of the Acoustical Society of America at Providence, RI, 5-9 June, 2006. Candidates should be prepared to describe in some detail their plans for administration.
The Acoustical Society Foundation is chartered in the State of New York and follows the laws of that state in hiring and all other matters.
