Cover: Aerial photograph of a plume from Mount Saint Helens on 8 March 2005. The photo was taken from the southwest of the volcano by John Pallister (USGS). In this event the ash-laden vol- canic plume reached a height of 35,000 feet, with ash falling on communities up to 100 km to the east of the volcano. The trace shown at the bottom of the image is an infrasound recording collected at an array located 13 km north of the volcano. The event lasted for approximately 30 minutes.
