A luxury sedan is fitted with at least 7, perhaps as many as 13, loudspeakers. Signals from left and right stereo channels are rout- ed to each loudspeaker with predetermined amplitude and delay. Thus, the patent teaches, a coherent wave front can be generat- ed that travels from the front left to the rear right of the passenger compartment, for example. Additional delay taps can be used to control rear sections. The theory is shaky, but 13 high-quality loudspeakers in a Mercedes should provide an impressive listening experience. GLA
