Dr. Glattke received a B.A. from the University of Arizona, an M.A. from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and conducted postdoctoral studies at Stanford University. Dr. Glattke is a Professor at the University of Arizona with joint appointments in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, the Department of Surgery, the Committee on Neuroscience and the National Center for Neurogenic Communication Disorders. His cur- rent research interests include the application of emission suppression studies to evaluation of the auditory
 efferent system in normal adult listen- ers and in children at risk for commu- nication disorders.
The award announcement cites Dr. Glattke's contributions to the field of audiology as follows: “He has authored, edited, or coedited over 75 scholarly publications and presented more than 200 invited lectures. He has directed the research and degree pro- grams of 51 graduate students, includ- ing eight Ph.D. dissertations. His core altruistic nature is reflected in his long and sustained service to underserved populations in the United States and Mexico. He sought, obtained and sus- tained a program at the University of Arizona for the graduate education of American Indian students in commu- nication sciences and disorders. He has served as a member or chair in nation-
 al and international professional organizations and boards too numer- ous to list. Dr. Glattke has contributed on the highest and most sophisticated level to audiology’s science, its educa- tion of students and professionals, its organizational affairs and its clinical services. His intellect and knowledge, along with his personal grace and humane spirit, are cherished by his colleagues.”
