who did not value his views. Hoover was able to bridge the gap between thought and technology. He was a product of the 1940’s and 1950’s where thought accomplished so much; and the advo- cate of the 1960’s and forward where technology promised so much. Somehow he seemed to combine the two effortlessly. Hoover’s greatest accomplishment was his eagerness to instill in others his zeal for understanding. I am but one of these; there were many before me and many after me. As a fitting obituary, I can give no other than that “Mr. Robert M. Hoover was a very
kind and giving person to all'.”
All of us who have had the privilege of contributing to this
tribute to Robert Marsh Hoover share the highest respect for his character, attitude, ability, thoroughness, reliability, and good humor. With his low-key, non-excitable manner, he accom- plished much toward making the world a better, and quieter, place. Bob had abundant success in his professional as well as in his family life. All of us who knew him have wonderful shared memories of a life truly well lived.
