JBL announced that all five models in its Control® 40 Series of in-ceiling loudspeakers have earned a UL listing under UL1480 and UL2043. The Control Contractor 40 Series features JBL’s proprietary Conical Radiation
Boundary Integrator (RBI), adapted from JBL’s VERTEC® series line array loudspeakers. This in-ceiling innovation combines a large-diameter, high-fre- quency waveguide and low-frequency projection apertures that work together to provide consistent pattern control and coverage. The Control 47C/T provides extended bass performance with a wide 120 degrees of coverage that allows fewer speakers to cover a large space. The Control 47LP is a low-profile version for areas with shallow clearance above the ceiling, or where there are obstructions in some locations. The Control 47HC is a narrow coverage model for difficult acoustic spaces and high-ceiling areas. Rounding out the lineup are the Control 40CS/T, a subwoofer with built-in passive crossover, and the Control 42C, an ultra-compact,
in-ceiling satellite loudspeaker. Contact: Travis McGee <Tmcgee@griffinpr.com>
Scantek, Inc., announced the availability of the newest products from Castle, the All New ‘Sonus’ pocket sized sound level meter range. Castle Group Ltd has com- pletely re-vamped its range of pocket-sized sound meters The ‘Sonus’ names denote a high level of specification, packed into a small body. At the top of the range is a combined Sound- and Dose-meter sporting dual-frequency measure- ment, data-logging to a sizeable memory and measurements to support noise at work and environmental applications. This new range of instrument is designed for professionals in the health and environmental noise fields, and has dedicated modes to match the task in hand. The innovative dual-frequency measurement means not having to repeat measurement and is ideal for hearing protection calcu- lations and the additional availability of 3 Ln percentile values makes this the most powerful meter in its class. Housed in a tough, crack resistant plastic case, the Sonus meters will stand up to almost any environment. Once measurements have been taken, the data can be downloaded into Castle’s standard dBdata software for producing graphs and tables and for copying and pasting data into standard soft- ware such as Microsoft Word or Excel. The Sonus range features three Class 1 and three Class 2 instruments to the new IEC61672 Standard as well as two dosimeters. They have a measurement range from 30-140 dB, with parameters such as Leq (time-weighted average), Lmax (maximum level), LCpeak (peak level), Lepd (exposure level), LE (sound exposure level and three Ln percentiles all simultane- ously. It can measure two frequency weightings simultaneously as ‘A’ and ‘C’ or ‘A’ and ‘Z’ and has FAST, SLOW and IMPULSE time constants. By simply unplugging the microphone and plugging in a dosimeter cable, the top-range Sonus becomes a personal exposure meter (Dosimeter). Contact: Richard J. Peppin <PeppinR@ScantekInc.com>
