        TENURE-TRACK FACULTY LIVE SOUND
REINFORCEMENT (POS 1183) AUDIO ARTS & ACOUSTICS
  FOR ADVERTISING RESERVATIONS AND INFORMATION
 Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting. Tenure-track faculty report to the chair of the Audio Arts & Acoustics Department and associate chair, program directors and/or area/class coordinators as appropriate. Tenure is granted to those tenure-track faculty who have successfully met the criteria set forth in the Audio Arts & Acoustics Department Criteria for Tenure and the Columbia College Chicago Tenure Document.
Principal duties
• Teach and mentor undergraduates in live sound-reinforcement theory and practice across a range of applications and venues. Courses taught within a typical semester include up to three among those listed on page 17 of our student handbook, available at http://tinyurl.com/aaa- student-handbook.
• Serve on college and departmental committees.
• Advise students within the major.
• Direct and supervise sound reinforcement for college events if/as
needed.
• Engage, with distinction, in creative and/or scholarly activities in the field,
as appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment.
Qualifications/Experience
• Advanced (required) or terminal (preferred) degree in a field relevant to the position. Alternatively, candidates must have commensurate professional experience within the live sound-reinforcement industry and be able to demonstrate broad knowledge of relevant theory and practice. Significant depth, appropriate to research or creative endeavor, is expected in at least one focused area, supported by successful completion of relevant
academic courses. Recent graduates must demonstrate exceptional promise, as assessed by
the search committee, in lieu of extensive professional and teaching experience.
• Extensive experience in live sound reinforcement for a variety of musical styles and contexts (e.g., small- and large-scale musical, theater, corporate, or other events that include an audio
component).
• Substantial familiarity with analogue and (ideally) digital live-sound reinforcement systems,
including array, RF, and monitor system configurations.
• Demonstrated record of teaching on topics relevant to the position.

Positions Available/Desired and Informational Advertisements may be placed in ACOUSTICS TODAY in two ways: display advertisements and classified line advertisements.
Recruitment Display Advertisements:
Available in the same formats and rates as Product Display advertisements. In addition, recruitment display advertisers using 1/4 page or larger for their recruitment display ads may request that the text-only portion of their ads (submitted as an MS Word file) may be placed on ASA ONLINE — JOB OPENINGS for 2 months at no additional charge. All rates are commissionable to advertising agencies at 15%.
Classified Line Advertisements:
2010 RATES: Positions Available/Desired and Informational Advertisements
One column ad, $33 per line or fractions thereof (44 characters per line), $180 minimum, maximum length 40 lines; two-column ad, $43 per line or fractions thereof (88 characters per
line), $310 minimum, maximum length 60 lines. ( Positions desired ONLY – ads from individual members of the Acoustical Society of America receive a 50% discount) Submission Deadline: 1st of month preceding cover date.
