ASA School 2018
Living in
the Acoustic
Environment

ASA School 2018 is an Acoustical Society of America event for graduate students and early career acousticians in all areas of acoustics to learn about and discuss a wide variety of topics related to the interdisciplinary acoustical theme Living in the Acoustic Environment. ASA School 2018 follows on the success of ASA Schools in 2012, 2014, and 2016, and will provide opportunities for meeting faculty and fellow students, discussing research topics, developing collaborations and professional relationships within acoustics, and mentoring.
Program and Costs
ASA School 2018 will take place at Oak Ridge Hotel and Conference Center in Chaska, MN, a lakeside resort 30 minutes from Minneapolis, MN. Lectures, demonstrations, and discussions will be given by distinguished acousticians in a two-day program covering topics in Acoustical Oceanography, Animal Bioacoustics, Biomedical Acoustics, Engineering Acoustics, Physical Acoustics, Signal Processing in Acoustics, Structural Acoustics and Vibration, and Underwater Acoustics. The registration fee is $50. Hotel rooms at Oak Ridge for two nights (double- occupancy), meals, and course materials are provided by ASA. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs and arrangements including transportation to Oak Ridge. Transportation from Oak Ridge to the ASA meeting location in Minneapolis at the close of ASA School 2018 will be provided and paid by ASA.
Participants and Requirements
ASA School 2018 is targeted to graduate students and early career acousticians (within 3 years of terminal degree) in all areas of acoustics. Attendance is limited to 60 participants who are expected to attend all School events and the ASA meeting immediately following on 7-11 May 2018. ASA School attendees are required to be an author or coauthor on an abstract for presentation at the ASA Minneapolis meeting.
