The electronics were protected underneath an enclosure that served as both a wind fairing and weather protection.

Two preamplified electret micro- phones (SuperCircuits PA3) were inserted into the throats of laboratory funnels, which served as conical horns. The rectangular case contained rechargeable NiMH D cells and a Cowon iAudio 7 solid state recorder.
